Hartman Announces Katherine N. O’Connell as New General Counsel
Effective November 1, 2013, Hartman Income REIT, a leading Real Estate Investment Trust company headquartered in Houston, Texas, announced the appointment of Katherine N. O’Connell as General Counsel and Secretary.
In her new position, Ms. O’Connell will lead our advisor’s in-house legal department and will be responsible for all legal and corporate governance matters affecting the Hartman companies. Her responsibilities will include the management and coordination for all corporate, leasing, acquisition/disposition and property management divisions, as well as the management of all litigation matters.
Before joining Hartman Income REIT, Ms. O’Connell spent over 20 years in corporate and private practice, primarily in commercial real estate, corporate law, bankruptcy and civil litigation. Ms. O’Connell served as Senior Attorney to the Corporate/Real Estate group at BP America, Inc. and Counsel To to the Real Estate and Litigation groups at the law firm Gardner, Carton & Douglas LLP which later merged with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. She commenced her law career with a two-year Judicial Clerkship for the Honorable Wayne R. Andersen, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and is a member of the Texas and Illinois bars.
Ms. O’Connell graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.A. degree in Political Science, with High Honors, and continued her education at the American University, Washington College of Law where she received her J.D.
