Hartman’s Shane Cawood Named Executive Manager of the Year by Houston BOMA

Houston BOMA, the building owners and managers association announced this year’s seven Awards of Excellence Winners at their annual Awards Extravaganza. Hartman Income REIT’s Vice President of Asset Services, Shane Cawood, was named Executive Manager of the Year for his progressive leadership and inspirational excellence as he carried out key operational duties for Hartman, Texas businesses, and residents in 2022.

Houston BOMA AwardShane Cawood was selected from more than 500 Houston BOMA members as one who inspires teamwork and shows selflessness in times of hardship. Cawood’s nomination included his diligence during Winter Storm Uri and his follow through on the aftermath of the storm. Since Winter Storm Uri hit Texas in 2021, Cawood’s commitment to his position has gone beyond his normal job responsibilities internally with Hartman, and externally reaching a state legislative level.

Mr. Cawood advocated and supported the petition for fair energy pricing to compel Texas legislature and state leaders to act on ERCOT failures. Additionally, Cawood represented both Hartman tenants and Texas energy consumers alike in all senate and house committee hearings on bills relative to resolving the negative impact increased electrical charges were having on tenant companies and Texas communities.  His work directly with state legislators and leaders across industries contributed to the passing of relief and energy reliability bills.

Cawood has over 20 years of experience in operational optimization in commercial real estate. He also has extensive project and program management experience covering office, medical, retail and industrial asset portfolios and facilities. Cawood joined Hartman at the beginning of 2018, and in his four-year tenure he has taken on a crucial role in many projects across the company.

In his day-to-day, Cawood oversees 59 commercial office, retail, industrial, and flex properties throughout Texas striving for zero building, equipment or system failures and top tenant retention rates. Mr. Cawood’s dedication to his vast responsibilities played an important role in Hartman’s recent World Class NPS score given to the firm by its tenants. Hartman’s world class score of 71.2 was achieved by receiving perfect tenant ratings at 14 of its properties and it ranks the firm 41 percentage points higher than all commercial real estate firms worldwide.

“It is a blessing to work alongside such incredible talent in the Hartman team and its business and property service allies everyday” said Cawood. “Hartman has a culture of empowerment, service excellence, and higher purpose. Our smart, hungry and humble servant leaders are truly inspirational.  It is only with their support and the service that all our team members provide that such recognition for the Hartman team from Houston BOMA is possible.”

Commenting on the award, Dan Jones, SEVP of Asset Management and Construction shared, “Shane’s commitment to Hartman’s white glove customer service approach is unfailing. Working alongside Shane drives me to do and be better at my job each day. I appreciate the example he sets for me.”
